运夷

持而盈之，不如其已；揣而锐之，不可长保。金玉满堂，莫之能守；富贵而骄，自遗其咎。功遂身退天之道。

持而盈之，不如其已；持，谓不失德也。既不失其德又盈之，势必倾危。故不如其已者，谓乃更不如无德无功者也。揣而梲之，不可长保。既揣末令尖，又锐之令利，势必摧衂故不可长保也。金玉满堂，莫之能守；不若其已。富贵而骄，自遗其咎。不可长保也。功成身退，天之道也。四时更运，功成则移。

(Fulness and complacency contrary to the Dao) It is better to leave a vessel unfilled, than to attempt to carry it when it is full. If you keep feeling a point that has been sharpened, the point cannot long preserve its sharpness. When gold and jade fill the hall, their possessor cannot keep them safe. When wealth and honours lead to arrogancy, this brings its evil on itself. When the work is done, and one's name is becoming distinguished, to withdraw into obscurity is the way of Heaven.
